NS Hispeed says testing of the AnsaldoBreda trains will begin soon on
the Dutch HSL South high-speed line and Belgium's L4 high-speed line in
preparation for entry into service next year. An interim 160km/h
locomotive-hauled service is due to start running between Amsterdam and
Brussels by the end of this year pending the start of the full 250km/h
services.
The introduction of Fyra services will cut journey times
between Amsterdam and Rotterdam from 1h 5min to just 36 minutes, while
Amsterdam - Brussels will be reduced from 1h 50 to 1h 8min. NS Hispeed
expects to carry 26.4 million passengers in 2011.
