"China is a vital partner to GE Transportation's future growth, and we find that MOR and GE share a common goal - driving high-speed rail technology development more quickly and broadly," says Mr Lorenzo Simonelli, president and CEO of GE Transportation.
One of the agreements with CSR Qishuyan involves the supply by GE of 300 locomotive assemblies for HXN5 locomotives being built by CSR Qishuyan with GE Evolution series diesel engines.
GE and CSR Qishuyan have also agreed to set up a joint venture to develop, build, and service Evolution diesel engines in China. The joint venture will be launched at the end of 2011, with the assembly and overhaul of components such as power assemblies and turbochargers, followed in 2013 by engine assembly and overhaul.
