Under its share of the contract, which is worth more than €100m, Alstom will supply mechanical equipment including bogies and brakes. Bombardier will be responsible for electrical equipment including traction, passenger information and vehicle control systems.

Assembly will take place at Alstom’s Salzgitter plant, with the additional trains due to enter service from January 2021 onwards.

The DT5 fleet was introduced in 2012 and Hamburger Hochbahn now has 163 trains in service or on order.

Each 40m-long three-car train seats 96 seated and 240 standing passengers with two wheelchair spaces.
