INTERNATIONAL Railway Journal is seeking nominations for its first 10 under 40 Awards. The winners will be profiled in the November edition of the magazine.

With the railway sector facing an exodus of older, experienced employees who are reaching retirement, the onus is increasingly on the next generation to continue to push the industry forward.

“We want to hear about the young people doing remarkable things in the railway industry, whether that is helping to introduce new technology that is improving efficiency, or a playing a key role in a major project or initiative,” says Kevin Smith, IRJ editor-in-chief.

“This is an opportunity to tell their stories and to shed light on the experiences of younger people working in the railway industry. Hopefully this will inspire other railways and companies from around the world to identify the next generation of talent and to promote the railway as an interesting and dynamic place to work.”

Nominations can be made by following this link.

Nominees must be working in the railway industry and be under the age of 40 on January 1 2022. Candidates may nominate themselves and will be judged on the following criteria:

• industry experience and education

• community service involvement.

The deadline for nominations is October 12. Good luck!
