The line will have 16 stations and will be entirely underground including the depot. Thales is supplying a CBTC system based on architecture used on light metro lines in Vancouver which will deliver a design capacity of 70,000 passengers/h. The system is designed for driverless operation with trains running at 90-second headways.
Construction is also underway on a 3.4km extension to Kaynarca, which has increased the cost of the project from Euros 750 million to just over Euros 900 million.
