The new link is an expansion of the service opened a year ago between Moscow Savelovsky and Sheremetyevo Airport. However, from now on, trains from Beloruskaya will only stop at Savelovsky when running to the airport, as they will return non-stop.
"We finished the task of organising direct rail transport from the centre of Moscow to the city's three main airports a year ago," says RZD's president Mr Vladimir Yakunin. "But we decided not to stop there. The opening of the link between Beloruskaya and Sheremetyevo Airport is one of the key steps in the development of the Moscow transport hub. Beloruskaya station is in the centre of Moscow, which means that passengers can get to the airport quickly and with minimal changes."
