Siemens' Trainguard MT is designed to maximise the availability of the entire system as well as ensure operational safety and flexibility. The system includes an intermittent feedback level based on ETCS components such as balises and lineside electronic units and will make it possible to run trains at short headways and quickly adjust operations to meet changing passenger volume.
The order also includes an operation control centre, lineside facilities including interlockings, on-board components and a radio system that will ensure a continuous exchange of data between the line and the vehicle.
Trainguard MT is currently used in China on the Beijing metro lines 10 and 8, Guangzhou metro lines 4and 5, and Nanjing Line 2.
