This will include major rolling stock renewals with the procurement of
100 additional double-deck coaches and 10 ALP-45DP dual-mode
locomotives from Bombardier (pictured). This is the first order to be
exercised from an option for up to 53 additional ALP-45DPs, which
follows an initial contract for 36 locomotives placed in 2008.

$US 296 million is allocated to capacity enhancement projects,
including the Trans-Hudson Passenger Rail Tunnel and the extension of
the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line to 8th Street in Bayonne.

The programme also provides $US 85.5 million for rail infrastructure
improvements including $US 37.3 million for track renewals and
structures, and $US 11 million on power supply and signalling upgrades.
NJ Transit will also invest $US 5 million in a locomotive reliability
improvement programme.
