INTERNATIONAL Railway Journal is seeking nominations for its second annual Women in Rail Award.

With various railways and industry companies looking to improve their gender balance, we are set to showcase 10 of the leading women who are breaking down barriers and achieving remarkable things across the railway world.

The awards will recognise individuals that have exhibited exceptional leadership as well as technical capabilities and who are serving as an inspiration to others. An interview with each of the winners will appear in the June 2023 edition of IRJ magazine and throughout June on railjournal.com.

“We launched the IRJ Women in Rail Awards last year with great success and we’re hoping this year’s entries will match the high calibre of the women that we featured in 2022,” says IRJ editor-in-chief, Mr Kevin Smith

“The railway industry has traditionally suffered from a gap between male and female employment representation. A great deal of work is taking place to close this gap and the railway industry is steadily benefiting from an increasingly diverse workforce. As well as celebrating the achievements of our 10 leading women, I hope this year’s awards serve as an inspiration to others. We are really looking forward to going through the entries and hearing about the amazing work taking place all over the world.”
