PARIS Transport Authority (RATP) and regional transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) have ordered up to 120 new LRVs for Line T1 at a cost of €310m, with an initial order for 37 and an option for the additional 83.

The current three-section trams on Line T1 from Saint Denis to Asnières-Gennevilliers date back to the opening of the line in 1992, or were transferred later from Line T2.

The new trams will provide 15% more capacity and low-floor entrances throughout. All will have USB mobile phone charging sockets, passenger counters and LED lighting.

Modern traction equipment will reduce energy consumption by 30%. The first 37 of the new trams will replace the existing vehicles while the other 83 will allow increases in frequency and will cover planned extensions at both ends of Line T1.
