The agreements included one with with French National Railways (SNCF) signed by Mr Vladimir Yakunin, president of RZD, and Mr Guillaume Pepy, president of SNCF, to set up a working group to sell passenger tickets between Moscow and Paris, and for SNCF to train RZD station station staff in France. Yakunin signed a memorandum of understanding with Siemens and Sinara Group, Russia, to supply around 100 double electric locomotives a year to RZD until 2015, starting with prototype next year.
Yakunin signed an agreement with Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) to develop cross-border services to the Far East. Similar agreements were signed with Estonian Railways and VR Group, Finland. An agreement was signed between RZD, Ukranian Railways, Slovak Railways, and Austrian Federal Railways to take the project to build a broad-gauge line across Slovakia to Vienna a step further. A feasibility study will now be conducted.
