The new company aims to be a leading player on the highly-competitive transalpine axis. Intermodal operators are expected to account for about 80% of the total forecast revenue of SFr 300 million ($US 273.6 million), but other railways and some major shippers should also use the new service.

By outsourcing its international traffic, SBB Cargo will in future concentrate on domestic and import/export traffic in collaboration with other railways, with a strong focus on standardised products.
