A NEW Polish rail speed record was set on May 29, when two Siemens ES64U4 electric locomotives reached 235km/h between Psary and Góra Vlodovska during a test run. The locomotives, which are owned by owned by Polish State Railways' (PKP) long-distance passenger division PKP Intercity, beat the previous record of 222km/h, which was also set by a locomotive-hauled train.

The fleet of 10 locomotives will be introduced from next year, and will
be used on international passenger services from Warsaw to Berlin,
Prague, and Vienna.
