RAPID MetroRail Guragon (RMGL), India, has selected Siemens to build a 6.1km metro line to the urban business district at Guragon Cyber City, 30km south of Delhi city centre. The new line will link the growing business and residential area with the capital's metro Line 2 at Sikanderpur and is Siemens' first complete rail installation in India.
RAPID MetroRail Guragon (RMGL), India, has selected Siemens to build a 6.1km metro line to the urban business district at Guragon Cyber City, 30km south of Delhi city centre. The new line will link the growing business and residential area with the capital's metro Line 2 at Sikanderpur and is Siemens' first complete rail installation in India.
Siemens will supply five three-car aluminium-bodied metro trains for the 750V dc line which will be standard gauge and will run on elevated track at average speeds of 30km/h. The line will serve six stations with trains running at 90-second headways during peak hours serving an estimated 30,000 passengers per day.
Handover from Siemens to RMGL on the Rs 9 billion ($US 204.4 million) project is scheduled for the end of 2012.
