Systra joins Moroccan engineering and development consultant
CID on the project management contract, which will see a 29km-long, 50-stop
light rail line built from the Olympic stadium in the northeast of the city through
the city centre to the west and southwest of the city.

It is the first line in a planned 76km four-line network of
light rail routes. Construction of line 1 is due to start in the second half of
the year when utility diversion works are completed. It is due to open in December
2012.
Improving public transport in the city has been a pressing
issue for many years, and the approval of Line 1 last year is the first major
