The three trains for the Moscow - Berlin route will have gauge-adjustable wheelsets so that they can switch from broad to standard gauge at the Belarus-Polish border. This, together with carrying out border controls on-board and the ability to tilt in bends, will cut the Moscow - Berlin journey time from 27 to 18 hours. The Moscow - Kiev journey time will be reduced from 13 to 7 hours.
