At present services from Lamprechtshausen and Ostermiething terminate at underground platforms beneath Salzburg Main Station. The 750m underground extension would continue the line south to Mirabellplatz in the city centre.
The estimated cost of €140m would be shared between the City of Salzburg (50%) and the other two entities.
In the longer term, a further extension to Salzburg South is proposed at an estimated cost of around €300m.
