The contract will have an execution period of 52 months, and covers the design, planning, execution, testing and commissioning of ERTMS signalling and control systems, and digital ATP systems on the line and its La Sagra-Toledo branch, as well as the provision of a new Central Traffic Control Centre (CTC).

The contract also includes the installation of electronic interlockings on the route, and gauge changers at Atocha, Alcolea and Majarabique, the La Sagra-Toledo branch line and the Cerro Negro and La Sagra workshops.

In addition, the winning bidder will also provide auxiliary object detection systems and a power supply for the new signalling and communications facilities. The upgrades will also be integrated with existing infrastructure.

The work will be co-financed by the European Union’s (EU) European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
