Construction of the 137.5km Zhaodian - Huangdu section started in 2014. The line has a design speed of 200km/h and nine stations and includes a crossing over the Yangtze River.

Once commissioning has been completed, CR will start trial operation in preparation to open the new line.

Another new line is under construction from Nantong north to Yancheng and will form part of a new coastal high-speed line from Shanghai to the port of Lianyungang on the Yellow Sea.
