Renfe is converting the trains at its own workshops in Valladolid, Madrid, La Sagra (Toledo) and Malaga. The work involves increasing the seating capacity of the trains by 20% to 438 seats. As the Avlo service is expanded, Renfe will also convert series 106 high-speed trains to operate under the Avlo brand. These trains will have 581 seats.

The first Avlo service will start on April 6 with three round trips per day between Madrid and Barcelona with an intermediate stop in Zaragoza. A fourth round trip will be added in May and a fifth in September.

Tickets for the launch service went on sale today (January 27). To promote the service, Renfe is offering 1000 tickets per day for 10 days at €5 each.
