THE world's first open-access high-speed rail operator, NTV, has announced the launch date for its new Italo service. Trains will start running on April 28 on the Milan - Florence - Rome - Naples route. Services will be gradually expanded as NTV's fleet of 25 AGV trains, being supplied by Alstom, becomes available so that by the end of the year services will run to Turin, Venice and Salerno.

NTV will release details of its fares and timetable on April 12 and ticket sales through a wide range of outlets will start on April 15.
On board Italo trains, passengers will be able to view live television, which NTV says is a world first, as well as the latest films, and have free wifi access in all classes. Catering will be provided by Eataly, and all passengers will have access to NTV's Casa Italo service centres at stations.
