The initial contact is valued at $US 18.6m. The purchase of the fifth unit is dependent on the execution of a Tiger grant from the US Department of Transportation (USDOT). Milwaukee received a $US 14.2m grant from USDOT last month for the $US 124m Lakefront Line.

Each three-section articulated vehicle will be 20.42m long and will accommodate up to 150 passengers. The low-floor vehicles will have two doors per side and will have roll-on access for passengers in wheelchairs. Each LRV will be powered by four 99kW ac traction motors.

The 4km line is expected to open in mid-2018, while a 7.4km extension is proposed.
