CAF will supply 25 34m-long five-module vehicles and 12 56m-long nine-section LRVs. The shorter vehicles will be able to accommodate 326 passengers while the nine-module units will have room for 562 passengers. All the LRVs are bi-directional and the five-section vehicles will have four sets of double doors on each side while the nine-section LRVs will have seven.

The Urbos LRVs will be fitted with the latest video entertainment and passenger information equipment including thin-film-transistor (TFT) flat-screen display panels both inside and outside the vehicle and emergency intercoms.

CAF says it won the contract because of the design and technical features of the units as well as the possibility to store energy on-board to facilitate catenary-free travel.
