Testing of the first vehicles commenced in May, but until now all operations have taken place exclusively at night to avoid disrupting public services.

One of the vehicles visited the climatic chamber at Minden, Germany, in July for testing in extreme conditions.

Handover of the fleet to GVB will take place after CAF has obtained an authorisation to place in service under the Dutch Act on Local Railways.

GVB awarded CAF a contract at the end of 2016 for 63 vehicles based on the supplier’s Urbos 100 design with an option for 66 additional units.

The first vehicle was delivered to GVB’s Diemen depot in April and CAF is supplying six 15Gs for testing, measurement and the authorisation process.
