This means that until the end of April, operator Chemnitz City Bahn will use the vehicles exclusively on Chemnitz - Mittweida services.

From May the entire fleet of eight dual-mode electro-diesel Citylink tram trains should be used for services from Chemnitz city centre to Hainichen, Burgstädt and Mittweida using the connection between the CVAG tram network and the main line at Chemnitz Main Station, which was commissioned last year.

The tram-trains will replace Regioshuttle DMUs used by City Bahn Chemnitz and will enable passengers to travel directly to and from the city centre rather than having to change to buses or trams at Chemnitz Main Station, which is around 1km from the centre.

Four additional Citylink tram-trains are also on order for operation of Chemnitz - Thalheim services from December 2018 using a new tram line and connection to the national rail network that is currently under construction in the southern suburbs of the city.
