The 7.5km line will have nine stations, with trams operating at an average of 26km/h to provide a journey time of 17 minutes. Bids will be invited soon for a contract to supply a fleet of 75m-long low-floor LRVs for the line, which is due to open in 2018.
Construction begins on Utrecht's Uithof Line
CONSTRUCTION officially commenced on September 21 on the latest phase of the light rail network in Utrecht. The €321m Uithof Line will serve what is currently the busiest bus corridor in the Netherlands, linking Utrecht Central station and city centre with the Uithof university campus on the eastern side of the city.
