The funding from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport’s fund for rapid mass transport will upgrade the existing Rome - Pantano urban rail line. The track gauge will be changed to 1435mm-gauge, in line with the rest of Rome’s light rail network.
Ownership of the line will also be transferred from the Lazio region to the municipality of Rome.
The line will provide a light rail link between University of Tor Vergata and the city centre.
