The estimated Reais 200m ($US 99.5m) project is designed to be included in the urban mobility projects sector of Brazil's growth acceleration plan (PAC) for medium-sized cities with populations of 250,000-700,000 people.

The estimated Reais 200m ($US 99.5m) project is designed to be included in the urban mobility projects sector of Brazil's growth acceleration plan (PAC) for medium-sized cities with populations of 250,000-700,000 people.
The proposed line will serve the centre of Foz do Iguaçu as well as the city's international airport and the future Federal University of Latin American Integration. The project is being supported by Itaipu Binacional, the operator of the Itaipu dam on the Brazil-Paraguay border, and will be divided into three phases and take six years to complete.
In mid-July, the federal government committed Reais 7bn for PAC mobility projects in mid-sized cities. An announcement of the successful projects is expected on December 14.
