As part of the project, NEM has developed a specific roadmap for improving wheel maintenance. Divided into four sections - data acquisition, data management, data analysis and wheel-wear optimisation – it will be implemented jointly by NEM and HTM with the goal of increasing the predictability of failure, which will reduce costs and optimise maintenance practices.
NEM says Aura Wheel has been installed at 150 locations worldwide and provided more than 36,000,000 wheel measurements on 40,000 rail vehicles.
