Lisbon launches tender for new LRVs

LISBON public transport operator Carris launched a tender on April 3 for 15 new LRVs worth an estimated €45m.

The Siemens-Düwag LRVs currently used on Line 15 are the newest vehicles in the Carris tram fleet, dating from the mid-1990s.

The low-floor articulated LRVs are required for the extension of Line 15 to Cruz Quebrada, Santa Apolónia and Parque das Nações.

The vehicles will be the first new LRVs purchased by Carris since 1995.
