This is the first light rail operating contract in China for Keolis, which recently opened the first automated driverless metro line in Shanghai and won the contract to operate the automated metro at Shanghai International Airport.

The first 13.9km section with 20 stations is scheduled to open on 25 December, while the second 17.1km section will see the full network enter service in mid-2019. The line is expected to carry about 170,000 passengers per day, using 30 Alstom Citadis trams.

Trams will run on average every 10 minutes from 05.00-23.00 and will connect with Line 9 of Shanghai’s metro and a high-speed station.
