The two extensions will continue the line east to Trim Road and west to Baseline Road and Moodie Drive, adding 28km, 16 stations and a maintenance and storage facility.
East-West Connectors, a consortium of Kiewit and Vinci, was selected by the City of Ottawa in February to design, build and finance the extension.
Thales’s SelTrac CBTC system is already installed on stage 1 of the Confederation Line and the company says this would minimise integration risks and commissioning time.
The contract includes integrating control units on-board each train, the installation of guideway equipment, including zone controllers, as well as commissioning the system for safe integration within Stage 1 operations.
