TRIAL operations are now underway on light rail lines T3 and T4 in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, ahead of the new lines opening for passenger traffic later this month.

Line T3 is 14km long with 20 stops, running from the mainline railway terminus at Casa Port to Hay El Wahda. Line T4 connects Parc de la Ligue Arabe with Mohammed Erradi, and is 12.5km long with 19 stops.

The two new lines increase the length of the Casablanca light rail network, operated by RATP Dev Casablanca, by 60% to 72km with a total of 110 stops.

Future network development to serve Morocco’s largest city with 4 million inhabitants includes extending Line T4 from Parc de la Ligue Arabe to the Hassan II mosque on the seafront in Casablanca. The construction of additional light rail lines is also planned in the medium term.
