French National Railways (SNCF) dispatched 150 staff to the area to assess the damage, effect repairs, and assist passengers. SNCF says that thanks to its quick response to the incidents it was able to repair the damaged cables by the middle of the afternoon.

THREE fires were deliberately started on the morning of March 3 at three locations in the Savoy region of France on the lines linking Chambery and the ski resorts in the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys. The fires severely damaged signalling cables leading to delays to 40 conventional trains and 60 TGVs, affecting around 35,000 passengers.
