GKB operates the Graz - Lieboch - Wies-Eibiswald line and the Lieboch - Köflach branch. The GKB network is connected to the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) network at Graz and Wettmannstetten, the latter situated on the new Graz - Klagenfurt Koralm Line, which is already operational in this area.

The network will be electrified using Austria’s standard 15 kV 16.7Hz ac system. Work is due to begin in 2021 and the €120m project is scheduled for completion in 2025.

As part of the project a 1.2km section near Graz will be double-tracked and a 30-minute interval service will operate on both the Wies-Eibiswald and Köflach lines when electrification is completed.

GKB currently carries around 6 million passengers a year and hopes to double this figure once the electrification scheme has been completed.
