DB Networks expects a planning permit for the project to be issued in autumn 2014, which would allow trains to begin using the reopened line from December 2015. Key measures will include the reconstruction of stations at Selb Plössberg and Aš, renewal of signalling, and construction of a new bridge over state road 2179 near Erkenreuth.
Czech-German reopening moves forward
GERMAN infrastructure manager DB Networks and its Czech counterpart SŽDC announced on December 19 that all planning has been completed for the reinstatement of the short cross-border link between Selb, Germany, and Aš, Czech Republic, which would allow trains to run direct between the Bavarian town of Hof and the Czech city of Cheb.
