The consortium, which also includes ERM, Ardent and Copper, will provide route alignment design and assessment, public consultation work and factual studies to inform strategic decision making.

East West Rail is a project to reopen the Oxford - Cambridge railway, and aims to improve connections between central England and East Anglia. The central section will include an interchange with the East Coast Main Line at Sandy.

Phase 1 of the western section involved reopening sections from Oxford to Oxford Parkway in 2015, and to Bicester in 2016 to connect with the London Marylebone - Banbury line. The line provides a second direct London - Oxford connection with a journey time of just over an hour.

Work on the second phase of the western section, which will reinstate the line from Bicester to Bletchley, is underway but has suffered delays and is now not scheduled for completion until 2024.
