Due to begin operating in May or June, the daily Berlin - Cologne service will serve major cities including Hannover, Bielefeld, Dortmund and Düsseldorf.

FlixTrain is also planning to introduce a third service between Hamburg - Cologne, a route it operates in partnership with former open-access operator HKX, a year after adding a second train pair. Traction and traincrew for these services are provided by Nuremberg-based BTE, which has recently switched haulage to leased Siemens Vectron locomotives.

FlixTrain operates under the FlixMobility banner alongside long-distance bus operator FlixBus.  The company is planning further expansion of its German domestic open-access rail services in the next few years after selling 750,000 tickets in 2018.
