The 10-year contract, Länderbahn’s first in the Czech Republic, was signed on April 12 by Ústí regional governor, Mr Oldřich Bubeniček, and Länderbahn managing director, Mr Wolfgang Pollety.

The contract begins in December and covers the operation of three routes:

  • Line U12: Osek - Most - Louny - Rakovník
  • Line U14: Jirkov - Chomutov - Žatec - Lužna u Rakovnika, and
  • Line T7 Chomutov - Vejprty (weekend/holiday regional express service)

These services are currently operated by incumbent Czech Railways (CD).

The company plans to use eight Stadler Regiosprinter RS1 diesel railcars recently released from the Vogtland network in Germany.

Länderbahn operates tendered regional services in the German state of Saxony and Bavaria, as well as Munich - Regensburg - Plzen - Prague Alex services, which it runs in cooperation with CD.
