Lingegård is currently CEO of Samhall, a state-owned company tasked with creating work opportunities to help people with reduced working capacity caused by functional impairment.

She replaces Mr Crister Fritzson, who will step down as president and CEO of SJ in April to take up the role of CEO of Swedish communication equipment provider Net Insight.

“I am very pleased that we have succeeded in recruiting Monica Lingegård to SJ,” says SJ chairman, Ms Siv Svensson. “She is a very successful and inspirational leader with a great deal of experience in leading and developing complex organisations. Her most important task will be to continue the successful growth journey that SJ is on and lead the development to creating an even more modern and customer-oriented company.”

Prior to taking up her position at Samhall, Lingegård was CEO of international security company G4S’s Swedish subsidiary, and has held various leadership roles in numerous industries including IT, telecoms, strategy consulting and finance. She is chairman of the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) and a member of the board of Nobina and Humana.

“I am incredibly proud to have the confidence to lead SJ into the future,” Lingegård says. “SJ is a future company that plays an important role in many people's everyday lives and we have a great responsibility to contribute to sustainable social development. I look forward to working with SJ’s fantastic employees, the board and our important customers to take the next step in the company’s development and build an ever better SJ.”
