Work is due to begin before 2024, with the project split into four sections.

SŽ has released a tender for the planning, design and preparation of a new 18.5km double-track line between Pilsen and Stod. The tender includes obtaining spatial planning proceedings permits and construction permits.

Construction is expected to cost Koruna 9bn ($US 390.2m), and is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The stations at Stod, Chotěsov and Zbůch will all be upgraded, and a new station added at Lině.

The project is designed to improve services between the Czech Republic and Bavaria, including long-distance services between Prague, Pilsen, Regensburg and Munich, and regional services around Pilsen.

The upgrade will benefit from German infrastructure manager DB Network’s efforts to electrify main lines in the Upper Palatine area, including the Regensburg - Hof and Schwandorf - Furth im Wald - Czech Republic border lines.
