MRB will operate the services using class 223 Siemens Eurorunner (ER20) diesel electric locomotives and second-hand coaches operating in push-pull mode. The class 223 diesel locomotives will be transferred from the Hamburg - Westerland line in December as the Nord Ostsee Bahn contract to operate there ends on December 13 2015.

The Transdev Leipzig – Chemnitz contract is for 18 train pairs on weekdays and 17 at weekends, representing around one million passenger-km annually. The contract runs until December 2023, with the option to extend to December 2025 and replaces services operated by DB Regio using class 612 DMUs.
