The extra trains are part of an option exercised from the €2bn MP14 framework contract signed in March 2015 between RATP and Alstom for the delivery of up to 217 MP14 trains over 15 years.

The MP14 trains will help to increase capacity on the line, and are fitted air-conditioning and audio-visual information for passengers. The construction material used offers a 20% reduction in energy consumption in comparison with the previous generation, and it offers new ergonomic seats, LED lighting, and video protection. The train is also equipped with a 100% electric braking system which recovers energy.

Alstom also secured an LRV contract with Stif last month. For more information on this and other rolling stock orders around the world subscribe to IRJ Pro.
