Bombardier will maintain the 72 four-car monorail trains, as well as the system’s guideways switches and depot equipment. In 2017, Bombardier signed the contracts to deliver its full turnkey Innovia monorail 300 systems for Bangkok’s Khae Rai to MinBuri Pink Line and Lat Phrao to Samrong Yellow Line.
In August 2017, Bombardier was awarded two contracts to supply a total of 72 Innovia Monorail 300 trains for the two lines. The contracts were awarded by Northern Bangkok Monorail Company, which is building the 34.5km Pink Line, and Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company, which is constructing the 30.4km Yellow Line.
The two companies are building the elevated lines under 30-year PPP concessions, with services expected to begin in 2021.
