The 100km/h 1.5kV dc trains will feature stainless-steel carbodies and are due to be delivered in 2015-2016, supplementing the existing fleet of 43 CNR Changchun trains supplied for the opening of the line in 2010.

The delivery of the additional trains will allow operating headways on the 42km line from Yitian to Shuanglong to be reduced to three minutes by 2016.

Line 3 is also known as the Longgang Line and is operated by MTR Shenzhen Company, a subsidiary of MTR Corporation.
