The trains have a maximum speed of 80km/h, and will join a fleet of 34 type B trains which were previously produced by CRRC to operate on Guiyang’s Line 1.

Construction of the 26.7km Phase 1 section of Line 2 began in September 2015. Phase 1 runs from Qiji Crossing in the northwest, to Youzha Street in the southeast, and has 23 stations including two interchanges with Line 1 at West Lincheng Road and Penshuichi.

Work on Phase 2, which extends the line south from Youzha Street, began in February 2017 with a current completion date of 2023.

Line 1 from Xiamaixi to Guiyang North station opened in December 2017, and is equipped with 1.5kV dc overhead electrification. A further two lines are currently planned, but no construction is currently underway.
