The final offer submitted by the sole remaining bidder Metrovías will be evaluated against the original criteria set by the Buenos Aires regional government. If it satisfies the requirements, the contract is likely to be awarded, but if not the entire process may be re-run.

Metrovías consists of Argentine company, Roggio Group, which is advised by German Rail (DB) and Siemens. RATP was working with Alstom, but announced its withdrawal in December 2019.

The original timescale for the tender foresaw the award of the contract in October 2018 with operation starting in January 2019. Metrovías has operated the six-line 54km network, which has undergone significant expansion in recent years, since 1994.
