The Orange Line comprises 25.4km of elevated track, 1.7km underground and 26 stations. Two stations, Chauburji and Lakshmi, will become interchanges with the planned 24km Blue Line and the planned Purple Line to the airport.

The new line is operated by 27 five-car trains supplied by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive. The 80km/h trains have heat-resistant bogies to improve durability, systems configured to handle unstable voltage, and energy-saving air-conditioning. The first train arrived in May 2017 and test running began in October that year.

The Orange Line is forecast to carry 245,000 passengers per day.
