The three projects comprise:
Metro 10: Gaimukh - Shivaji Chowk (11km, five stations, Rs 50bn)
Metro 11: Wadala - General Post Office (14km, 11 stations, Rs 80bn), and
Metro 12: Kalyan - Dombivali - Taloja (25km, 17 stations, Rs 110bn).
All three projects are due to be completed by 2026.
BEML starts metro car production
Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) held a ceremony at its Bangalore plant on July 29 to officially launch production on the MRS1 metro car project.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) awarded BEML a Rs 30.2bn contract last year to supply 63 six-car metro trains for lines 2 and 7. The contract includes spare parts, design, production and commissioning of the fleet.
The 25kV ac stainless-steel-bodied vehicles will be equipped with CCTV and real-time diagnostics systems.
