SHAOXING, China, opened the 20.3km Guniangqiao - China Textile City Phase 1 of its first metro line on June 28.

The line provides a connection with Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang province, via an interchange on Hangzhou Line 5 at Guniangqiao. The two networks have integrated ticketing.

Services on the line are operated by Shaoxing Jingyue Metro, with an operating speed of 100km/h and an end-to-end journey time of 26 minutes. The line has 10 stations, including four elevated and six underground.

Services operate between 06.00 and 21.55, with a six-minute headway. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, passengers were required to reserve a seat on the train between June 28 and July 5.

Line 1 will eventually be 54.4km long, running from Guniangqiao to Fangquan, with a 7.3km northern branch to Shaoxing North Railway Station.
